Jean Grey

The Phoenix, Jean Grey, Jeannie, Red,

Description:

Song Distinction: “I just can’t play dead.”

Creation Notes: Jean Grey is VERY different than the comics. Here’s the details about her powers: She can self-resurrect but must absorb near-by life forces to do so. The explosions and fires are a type of psychic energy, similar to Jon’s, that seek out near-by living creatures. Jean doesn’t know or understand any of this, of course. Eventually, I see her progressing to being able to control and resurrect\heal other people (same cost, of course) but right now it’s pretty much saving her life.

I’m thinking some sort of SFX that triggers when she died that brings her back fully healed and transfers her conditions to the nearest living person. Likely with some MASSIVE emotional trauma. Yes, this makes her INCREDIBLY powerful. But, that’s kind of the point.

Three Things (Post-Mutation, Not all of these Events have transpired yet.)

  1. My name is Jean Grey and I’m from Hudson, NY. My father is a History Professor at Bard College and my mother stays at home to take care of me and my sibilings. My brother Liam was only a year older than me, the twins Sara and Roger are two years, and Julia was three years older. Making me the baby of the family.
  2. A months before my 16th birthday I was driving home from driver’s ed with my father and older brother Liam. Liam and I have always been close, being only a year apart, and he waited for me so we could take driver’s ed together. We were struck by a drunk driver. Everything after that is a blur, but when I woke up the car was on fire. Except the fire didn’t burn me. The doctor’s say I should have died, but I walked away without a scratch. Liam though… they he died in the fire.
  3. Last week I tried to kill myself. I stood in the bathroom and slit my wrists. I watched my blood pour out from the cuts and swirl around the drain. I thought of Liam, how it was so unfair that I should live while he died. Then everything around me exploded. The explosion tore apart Julia’s room, with her inside. Again, I walked away without a scratch. I… I don’t think I can die.

Well, hell she walk like zombie
Talk too cold
Live in a graveyard
Like the one I call home
And when she wish riger mortis
On my soul
I don’t wanna tell her
But she gotta be told
Because she talk like crazy
Making my bed up
Messing with the future
When she know I got to get up
Cannot break this silence
Fuck my momentum
I ain’t gonna play
Because I know just where she send ‘em

To the grave!
To grave!

And I say
I just can’t play dead
I just can’t play dead

So I got one for my money
Two for my soul
Three times, I begging
Get me outta this hole!
I see her roll her sleeve up
Looking for a beat up
Telling you the things to feed the flavor in your ear
But when she spit that venom
Just like a viper
She evil to the core
But then she know that’s what you like
Got the shit on eleven
Serving up a tension
She cooking in her kitchen
Seasoning, before she send ‘em

To the grave!
To grave!

And I say
I just can’t play dead
I just can’t play dead

Because she talk like crazy
Making my bed up
Messing with the future
When she know I got to get up
Cannot break this silence
Fuck my momentum
I ain’t gonna play
Because she send ‘em

To the grave!
To grave!

Like I said
I just can’t play dead
I just can’t play dead
