Season One takes place between August 1st, 2013 and June 30th, 2014. Each episode spans a month or two months of time during the character’s Freshman year of High School.
“Mutants” are almost unheard of although they have always been among us. Historically Mutants have kept their powers a secret, often denying their abilities even exist and pretending to be mundane humans. Occasionally groups have met in secret but these underground clubs tend to end in tragedy. Lynch mobs are more than willing to attack anyone who’s different then the majority while the police look the other way.
Outside of the world of mutants, “Superheroes” are also almost unheard of. During World War II there was a team of super-powered people nicknamed the Invaders, consisting of the ultra-american patriot Captain America, the underwater stranger Namor, and the world’s first android the Human Torch. The group all but vanished after the war and the only one that is still remembered to any degree is Captain America.
Season Two picks up after Summer break, around September 1st, 2014 and runs through the Sophomore year’s Summer Break ending on August 31st, 2015. Mutants are still closeted, but their secrecy is quickly challenged. Outside of the world of Mutants the first “Superheroes” begin to appear.
At the start of Season Two there are three major faction in the current Mutant Conflicts; Professor Xavier and his students who stand for peaceful cohabitation with humanity, Magneto and his Brotherhood who won’t stop until Mutants take their place in the world, and Sinister and his Marauders who seek to conquer the world and reshape it in Sinister’s image. While Xavier and Magneto agree that Sinister is a threat, they disagree with what should be done. Xavier seeks to help guide humanity and see that Sinister pays for his crimes legally while Magneto demands Sinister’s demise for his crimes against Mutants.
Season Three picks up immediately following the end of Season Two, starting September 1st, 2015 and running another full year ending on August 31st, 2016. Mutants are publicly known and growing in numbers. Humanity is struggling to figure out their response. Superheroes are just starting to appear and become accepted as part of life now. A reminder to Mutants about humanity’s ability to accept some and not others.
Season Four picks up immediately following the end of Season Three, starting September 1st, 2016 and running another full year ending on August 31st, 2017. Both Mutants and Superheroes are public knowledge and common. Public perception has started to blur between Mutants and Supers and not favorably.
