Three Things

  1. I’m the oldest son of a pretty big large Kentucky farming family. When the farm began to fail my pa took up working the coal mine. Then Pa died last year from inhailing coal dust.
  2. After Pa’s beath I started working the mine. On my first day Pa’s friend, Lewis Claremont, and me were trapped in a cave-in. I paniced and somehow blasted my way out. I left a pretty big hole for Lewis climb out of and the two of us kept the whole thing mum.
  3. My ma’s terrified of what would happen to me if my powers are discovered. As such, I’ve been hiding my abilities… Well, except from Lewis. He thinks I’m neat and the two of us sneak into abandoned parts of the mines for to practice my explosions.

They say times are getting hard on a working man
Well they say times are getting hard on a working man
I don’t care what time it is
I want what’s mine and not what’s his
I want to pull my wagon with my own two hands

They say there’s not near enough here to go around
They say there’s not near enough here to go around
I don’t mine sharing bread and supper
But when it comes to tobacco it’s each man’s own
And if you brought your own bottle, come on and sit right down

Sometimes it seems like everybody wants to bring you down
Yeah, sometimes it seems like everybody wants to bring you down
Don’t go home and slash your wrists
Come out fighting with both your fists
I know you don’t believe me but things sure could turn around

Seems like I’ve been down this lonesome road before
Seems like I’ve been down this lonesome road before
Sometimes I get to moving and I fall down flat
You know I took a beating but I ain’t dying yet
Something keeps me getting up and coming back for more

Well they say times are getting hard on a working man
Yeah, they say times are getting hard on a working man
I don’t care what time it is
I want what’s mine and not what’s his
I want to pull my wagon with my own two hands
I want to pull my wagon with my own two hands
